Neuer suffers re-injury during rehabilitation

Manuel Neuer could be force to delay his return to action for some time after the 38-year-old struggled during his rehabilitation.

Bayern Munich have confirmed that Manuel Neuer has suffered a recurrence of the injury as the 38-year-old goalkeeper recovers from a calf muscle injury.

With 21-year-old goalkeeper Jonas Urbig coming in to replace him, and has started the last three games for the Bavarians.

Bayern Munich have reveal that Neuer is continuing his rehabilitation from a calf injury. But complications will keep the 38-year-old out for longer, although no timeframe has been given.

Meanwhile, Urbig has also withdrawn from the Germany U21 squad and returned to his club. After the young goalkeeper suffered a foot injury ahead of Friday’s friendly against Slovakia.

Neuer – an 11-time Bundesliga champion – has been unfortunate with injuries this season, with the keeper previously laid low with rib and thigh issues in 2024-25. Bayern’s quest for the Bundesliga title recommences after the international break with a Matchday 27 encounter at home to St. Pauli on 29 March.
